Infographics are cool!

The web is a primarily visual medium. The amounts of information we have to present and absorb are increasing exponentially. When you combine that with a not-so-gentle pressure to constantly move faster, you get a huge response to infographics.

I love infographics. The elegant pictorial presentation of layers of vast data conveying not only quantity and attributes but relationships, applied perspective, and time scale (or time placement) just makes me tingle inside like a librarian among ten-foot tall shelves of books all perfectly arranged and filed.

I can't talk about info-graphics without mentioning Edward Tufte, a master of information presentation and a man that has advanced the art and science of beauty in integration and presentation of complex data long before the web came about. His work is foundational to the very best infographic designers of today.

When you are in the mood to see the amazing variety, application, style and presentation of infographics, start with these sites. Enjoy!
